We went from wishing each other Merry Christmas to celebrating the arrival of the new year. And now we are preparing to deliver gifts brought by the Three Wise Men, so we do not want to miss the opportunity to share the meaning of those present that Melchor, Gaspar and Baltazar brought to the baby Jesus.
Three Kings Day is the final celebration with which the 12 days of Christmas end on January 6. It is believed that on this day, the three wise men traveled by following a star in the desert that led them to baby Jesus in a manger. They presented baby Jesus with symbolic gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrhh.
Many Christians across Europe, mainly in Spain, and in Latin America celebrate this holiday, and each gift had a special meaning, according to some Christian interpretations:
- Frankincense, an aromatic gum resin which is burnt as incense, recognizes Jesus as a divine being and Son of God.
- Myrrh, a fragrant gum resin used in medicines, means that Jesus was also human and mortal.
- Gold, we do know the power and value of our favourite precious metal in any form, symbolized Jesus' role as the King of Kings.
Just as the Magi in the story came bearing gifts of gold to Jesus, the gift of gold is a gift worthy of Kings. Gold’s beauty, it’s shine, it’s durability, and it’s constant source of value have always made it something truly precious to behold.
Gold has always been widely respected and loved throughout the history of human civilisation and remains just as valued today. Gold is seen by many as an investment for the future and is associated with royalty.
In some of my handmade creations I have incorporated gold as part of my designs. Today I propose these ideas to celebrate with all the illusion of the world the arrival of the Three Wise Men through gifts for your loved ones, and of course, also to make a gift to you!
